This series of podcast corresponds with the Catholic Church Catechumenate for this liturgical year. Solid Catholic theology presented through accessible dialogue. This podcast is particularly well suited to persons who may have an interest in learning more about the Catholic community. Solid theology is presented, however, this is not intended to be a discussion about Catholic apologetics. It is an exploration of our relationship with God, our language, and our community.

These sessions are comprised of three formats, as follows:

1. Parish Sessions – Together on the catechumenate journey, we participate in lectures, group activities,  group prayer and other activities at the parish to further our understanding and relationship with God.  These sessions are tagged with CCPS (Catholic Classes Parish Session) and a sequence number.
2. Topical Discussions – In a small group of 3 or 4 people we focus on topics related to the parish session to further our understanding. These sessions will be tagged with CCTD (Catholic Classes Topic Discussion) and a sequence number.
3. Catechism Reflection – In a small group of 3 or 4 people we reflect on the text of the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults as it relates to the parish sessions.  These sessions will be tagged with CCCR (Catholic Classes Catechism Reflection) and a sequence number.

Liturgy of the Hours has moved to DivineOffice.org

An announcement to all those who are searching for our daily prayer and scripture readings known as Liturgy of the Hours. For those of you who have subscribed in the last month, you may not have experienced these remarkable podcasts. And for your benefit I will take this quote from wikipedia

The Liturgy of the Hours or Divine Office is the official set of daily prayers prescribed by the Catholic Church to be recited at the canonical hours by the clergy, religious orders, and laity. The Liturgy of the Hours consists primarily of psalms supplemented by hymns and readings. Together with the Mass, it constitutes the official public prayer life of the Church.

Again, let me repeat that “Together with the Mass, it constitutes the official public prayer life of the Church” and yet this form of Liturgy is largely unavailable or inconvenient and difficult to learn on your own. This is the basis for our Divine Office ministry. We will continue to grow Catholic Classes because it offers something incredibly important for seekers and cradle catholics seeking greater faith life, but just as you could have Mass in the school cafeteria, isn’t it much nicer in the Church? For this reason, Divine Office has a new podcast series and a new home on the web. You will find our new web site at www.DivineOffice.org or you can search iTunes for Divine Office. The new web site makes praying the Divine Office even easier then before. It always features todays liturgy on the front page in proper order and it offers a brief explanation of what each feast, memorial, or solemnity day is about as well as each of the major prayers for the day, or at least the ones we have recorded so far, and we have many more coming. You can also subscribe by searching for Divine Office on iTunes where you will always have the next 7 days available so that you only need to synch your mp3 player once every week.
